How does the OTPF influence OT practice?

The OTPF is a crucial guide used to provide efficient, accurate occupational therapy. Occupational therapists can use this as a tool to guide their decisions and thought process in their evaluations, interventions, and outcomes. The OTPF is based on a "top-down approach," meaning that the OT evaluates each client in a holistic way before getting down to the specific problem that the he or she is facing. OTs use the OTPF to classify their client's occupations into specific domains. This helps the therapists include activities and occupations that are meaningful to their clients in their therapy.   I think the OTPF provides a great way for all occupational therapists to have the same foundation in their practices and even give them a way of easily communicating with the same lingo.
